I am a 100% advocate of keeping a food journal. It is a great way to make you accountable for everything that is shoved into your mouth, and it helps you visualize exactly how many calories you are actually eating during the day: everyone, myself included, eats way more calories than they think. Whenever I feel like things are getting a little heavy on the scale, I'll pull out my food journal and watch it for a week or two. BUT, don't think you are fooling anyone by sneaking things by your journal to make sure your numbers add up, because your body knows better. It will record, and store, every single calorie whether you write it down or not. You're better off just being honest with yourself, and your journal.
