You Are More Beautiful Than You Think

How do you think you would look if you could see yourself through the eyes of another person? Do you think you would be more beautiful if you could see what other people saw? Dove thought so, and in 2013 they did an experiment to show women that they were more beautiful than they perceived themselves to be. "Women are their own worst beauty critics. In fact, only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful." This is a very eye-opening video that will completely change how you look at yourself.

This is a post that my husband is going to shake his head at, as I am one that needs a lot of work in this area. He tells me continually how beautiful I am, and occasionally I believe him, but usually I just say "thanks for thinking so honey". We are so hard on ourselves and our looks. We obsess over the little details, and when we think of our looks we exaggerate those details until they become a huge part of how we perceive ourselves to look.

To conduct their experiment Dove had a handful of selected women go individually into a loft in San Fransisco: the women didn't know ahead of time what was to be expected of them. They had each women describe their looks to an FBI trained forensic sketch artist, who could not see them only draw what they said about themselves. Later, those same women were described by strangers that they met earlier in the day and a second drawing was done. The following video is what resulted from these two drawings.

Every single one of us is beautiful, we just need to find that beauty for ourselves. When someone tells us we are beautiful, pretty, cute, or unique (yes, I actually got that one once) for heavens sake believe them.

You are more beautiful than you think!
